Glashütte Original was established in 1994 as the direct successor to the VEB Glashütter Uhrenbetriebe, the state-owned manufacture that had centralised watchmaking in Glashütte during the East German period. The brand's founding gave continuity to a production tradition stretching back to 1845, when Adolf Lange established precision watchmaking in the town and trained the craftsmen whose techniques became the foundation of what is now legally defined as Glashütte watchmaking: three-quarter plates, Glashütte ribbing, screw balance wheels and hand-bevelled edges applied to every visible component of the movement. Glashütte Original produces its movements entirely in-house across the Senator, PanoMatik and SeaQ collections, with finishing standards that place it directly alongside the most respected Swiss manufacture watches at comparable price points.
At WATCHOYSTER, we carry a selection of certified pre-owned Glashütte Original watches inspected in Switzerland. Every piece has been physically examined by our in-house certified watchmaker, verified against The Watch Register, and documented before listing. What you see reflects the actual condition of the watch, with no exceptions.
Glashütte Original is consistently undervalued in international markets relative to Swiss manufacture watches with equivalent finishing standards, which creates secondary market conditions that reward buyers who look at movement quality rather than brand geography. Discontinued Senator Perpetual Calendar references, earlier PanoLunar variants and SeaQ Panorama Date pieces represent the most compelling targets in this catalogue, often available with original box and papers in very good condition. Buying a certified second hand Glashütte Original from a verified dealer in Switzerland means authentication is handled by specialists who understand what Glashütte finishing standards mean technically and how to assess them accurately. Our 12-month warranty applies to every piece in our catalogue, and our 14-day return policy covers any case where the watch does not correspond to its description.
All Glashütte Original watches in our catalogue are ready for immediate worldwide dispatch with full insurance. Buyers in Switzerland receive their order within 2 to 3 business days. For clients who prefer to inspect the watch in person before making a decision, our Geneva Free Zone lounge is available by appointment, with the piece presented and verified on-site in advance of any commitment.
For buyers based in Switzerland, 0% financing is available on selected pre-owned Glashütte Original references across terms from 3 to 24 months, with no interest and no fee attached. The minimum first payment is 25% of the purchase price, with the balance divided into equal fixed monthly instalments confirmed at checkout in under three minutes with no documentation required.
