Cartier was founded in Paris in 1847 and entered watchmaking in earnest in 1904 with the Santos, created for aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont and now recognised as one of the first purpose-built men's wristwatches in the modern sense. The Tank, introduced in 1917 and inspired by the silhouette of Renault tanks deployed on the Western Front, remains one of the most consistently produced watch designs in history, having changed remarkably little in over a century. Cartier's movements are developed at its own manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, with the brand holding a unique position as a jewellery house whose watchmaking credentials are taken entirely seriously within the industry rather than treated as a secondary pursuit.
At WATCHOYSTER, we carry a selection of certified pre-owned Cartier watches, sourced and inspected in Switzerland. Every piece has been physically examined by our in-house certified watchmaker, verified against The Watch Register, and documented before listing. What you see reflects the actual condition of the watch, with no exceptions.
Cartier's enduring case designs, particularly the Tank, Santos and Panthère, mean that vintage and recent references hold genuine cross-generational appeal, with earlier proportions often preferred by collectors over current production. The pre-owned market offers access to discontinued dial variants, retired case sizes and limited editions that no longer appear at retail. Buying a certified second-hand Cartier from a verified dealer in Switzerland means every piece has been assessed for movement accuracy, case condition and bracelet originality before listing. Our 12-month warranty applies to every piece in our catalogue, and our 14-day return policy covers any case where the watch does not correspond to its description.
All Cartier watches in our catalogue are available for immediate purchase with worldwide insured delivery. Standard delivery across Switzerland takes 2 to 3 business days. For clients who prefer to inspect the watch in person before completing the purchase, our appointment-only lounge in the Geneva Free Zone is available by prior arrangement.
Financing is available on selected pre-owned Cartier references for clients based in Switzerland, with terms from 3 to 24 months, no interest and no administrative fees. The full purchase price is divided into equal monthly instalments, with a minimum first payment of 25%. A decision takes under three minutes at checkout, with no documentation required beyond standard order information.
