Eberhard & Co. was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1887 by Georges-Lucien Eberhard and remains one of the few Swiss manufacturers still genuinely independent, never absorbed into any of the larger watchmaking groups. The brand produced its first wrist chronograph in 1919 and has specialized in chronograph development ever since, culminating in the Chrono 4 launched in 2001, the only chronograph in watchmaking history to display four counters aligned in a single horizontal row. The Extra-Fort and Scafograf collections, both originating in the post-war decades, remain in production today and continue to define the brand's identity among collectors.
