Alain Silberstein, a trained architect with no formal watchmaking background, presented his first designs at Baselworld in 1987 and formally established his eponymous brand in Besançon, France — historically the capital of French watchmaking — by 1990. Where the Swiss watch industry of the era favoured muted colours and classical dials, Silberstein introduced primary red, blue and yellow accents, Bauhaus-inspired geometric shapes on hands and crowns, and complications like the tourbillon presented with an openly playful design language. He became known as the "enfant terrible" of horology and one of the founding figures of what collectors now call independent design watchmaking.
The brand ceased production in 2012 following financial difficulties, and Silberstein has since collaborated on limited-edition pieces with MB&F, Romain Jerome and, since 2019, Louis Erard — but the original Alain Silberstein watches from 1990–2012 exist only on the pre-owned market.

For clients who prefer to inspect the watch in person before completing the purchase, our appointment-only lounge in the Geneva Free Zone is available by prior arrangement.
