Peter Speake-Marin, an English watchmaker trained at Hackney Technical College in London and at WOSTEP in Switzerland, spent seven years restoring antique watches at Somlo Antiques in Piccadilly before moving to Switzerland in 1996 to build high complications for Renaud & Papi. His self-made Foundation Watch, a pocket watch he completed in 2000, earned him membership in the AHCI, the exclusive academy of independent watchmakers. He founded his eponymous brand in 2002, and its first wristwatch, the 2003 Piccadilly, was named for the London street where his career began — its large, visible winding barrel became the brand's enduring design signature. Peter Speake-Marin left the company he founded in 2017; it is today led by entrepreneur Christelle Rosnoblet, who has since built an in-house movement workshop for the brand's calibres.
